We Had a Job to Do is a World War II research project developed by students at Doris M. Johnson High School, a Baltimore City Public School, in collaboration with the Maryland Historical Society. This website serves as a resource for students, teachers, and researchers interested in exploring the wars impact on the people and institutions of Maryland and the personal accounts of Marylanders who served in the military and worked in war industries on the home front. Browse this site to read student essays, listen to oral history interviews, and access an educational guide with lesson and activity suggestions for teachers. This project is made possible through the generous support of the Goldsmith Family Foundation.
